What is quality?

"QUALITY" is a very subjective item.

Thus, you can find here some of the definitions of quality and quality development we collected during our E-MAP project:

"Quality is a standard (qualification) on which we altogether agreed on, that´s presenting a level of performing, based on facts and figures."

*

"Quality development is a participatory process and an exercise in a reproducing cycle of the situation of the organisation/its processes, the goals/aims/objectives of the organisation/ indicators to monitor the reach of the objectives, feedback systems on the state of the fulfilment, changes, and new analysis of the situation…"

*

"Quality is a circle with different steps: 1) to define aims (regarding needs, usability, target group, etc.); 2) to try to reach the aims; 3) to check if the aims have been reached; 4) to reflect why aims have been reached or not; 5) to start measures to reach/improve aims; 6) to start again with 1."

*

"Quality is a structured system of monitoring and gathering feedback and using the results in developing the activities."

*

"In my work quality is affecting programmes/input/support carrying in mind that there are different perspectives (of people affected by your work/target groups) and recognising that (social constructivist + systems theory approach). Additionally quality is learning from my work."

*

"For me quality means: improvement, change, professional skills, enrichment, self-assessment. Working on quality helps to achieve better the final goals and objectives that you expect to reach."

*

"Quality is a measurement of our work; awareness of what we are doing and awareness of our mistakes. It´s a permanent process of awareness of our weaknesses and strengths. Quality means that we have to check if our activities meet the expectations of the need."

*

"Quality is: … what you expect; … what you´re satisfied with; … what meets your requirements."

*

"Quality is: … meeting expectations; … completing what you promised to a full extent; …constant endeavour to make much better; … expertise; … meeting the needs of a certain situation".

*

"I think you talk about quality service when you don´t just get what you expect but when you get more than what you expected."

*

"Quality is when an organisation provides a standard of services that they themselves would like to receive."

*

"Quality is cost-efficient education, no money wasted in something that isn´t working. It is happy customers and teachers."
